about

Grateful Kids is a pleasing collection of music for kids with a Grateful Dead flavor.

You might not expect to see the Grateful Dead's song Brokedown Palace on a children's album but it is one of my favorite recordings. Even my mom likes it and she has no idea who the Grateful Dead are. :-)

I wrote After I’m Gone three days after being at Brent Mydland’s last show. I dedicate this song to all the great musicians that continue to touch our hearts even after they are gone. It may be surprising that After I’m Gone is my most popular dance song for 2-3 year old toddlers!

You may have guessed by now, Grateful Kids is enjoyed as much by grandparents as the kids.

G-rated music does not mean it is annoying goofy music sung by a purple dinosaur. It can be amazing music as long as there is no blood, nudity or violence. Listen and decide for yourself.

Will Hale and the Tadpole Parade: Kids are the rock stars! When they clap, dance and sing with Will Hale, the king of rocking air guitar. Will’s kid tested, teacher approved concerts create a fun atmosphere filled with plenty of audience participation, excitement and energy. Kids will enjoy Will's captivating music performances which include a friendly mix of festive drums, guitar, mandolin, and harmonica, but by far the most fun is when the kids pick up their inflatable air guitars and jam!

Will Hale performs for 1000’s of kids every year. As a full-time kid’s musician since 1990, Will focuses on engaging kids in direct personal experience to gain useful life skills. Will Hale offers exciting concerts for kids and families, festivals, community events, daycares, elementary schools, parks and recreation, concert series, churches, libraries, private parties and any kid friendly event!

lyrics

BROKEDOWN PALACE
Grateful Dead
Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter
Performed by Will Hale & the Tadpole Parade

Fare you well my honey
Fare you well my only true one
All the birds that were singing
Have flown except you alone

Going to leave this broke-down palace
On my hands and my knees I will roll roll roll
Make myself a bed by the waterside
In my time, in my time, I will roll roll roll

In a bed, in a bed
By the waterside I will lay my head
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul

River gonna take me
Sing me sweet and sleepy
Sing me sweet and sleepy
All the way back back home
It's a far gone lullaby
Sung many years ago
Mama, mama, many worlds I've come
Since I first left home

Going home, going home
By the waterside I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul

Going to plant a weeping willow
On the banks green edge it will grow grow grow
Sing a lullaby beside the water
Lovers come and go, the river roll roll roll

Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul
